About Me

     My name is Dylan and I am a senior in high school and I am currently dual enrolling with Georgia Gwinnett College. I am 17 years old and have lived in Georgia for all of my life. I am interested in majoring as an electrical engineer after I graduate from high school. My favorite subjects are science, technology, engineering, and math courses or STEM courses. In my future, I want to work as an electrical engineer at one of Elon Musks' companies like Space X or Neuralink. Working at one of these companies is my dream job as I am incredibly interested in outer space, artificial intelligence, the human brain, and improving upon natural human abilities. If you do not know what either of those companies are, I would recommend looking into them as it is extremely interesting.

    One of my main hobbies is that I like to play lacrosse. I have been playing lacrosse since I was in the sixth grade so I was very excited when my high school started a team. I actually helped start up my high school team, even playing with the team their first season even though I was still in the eighth grade. While our team is still new, we get better every season and we are always having fun. Another thing I like to do is play videogames. With my schedule being as busy as it is this school year I have not found much time to play videogames, but I still play in the little free time I have. I also enjoy reading books and watching movies as they are fun ways to spend some time and relax.

Research Project Aruba in WWII

Aruba is likely one of the last things that comes to mind when you think of WWII. Even still, the tiny island played a major role in the war. According to my research, the largest way Aruba contributed to the war efforts is by providing oil to the allied powers. At the time of WWII, the Lago Oil Refinery was one of the largest sources of refined oil and gas in the world. This made the island a great resource for the allies and a large target for the axis powers. The Lago Oil Refinery fueled the planes and ships of the allies and provided the resources needed to win the war. One way they did this was by destroying a German ship and arresting its crew shortly after the Germans invade the Netherlands, the country that Aruba belongs to. Getting to Know Aruba

    Aruba was first discovered by Alonzo de Ojeda in 1499 who claimed the island for Spain. Because of the lack of natural resources on the island, Spain did not deem it worth colonizing and it instead became a refuge for pirates and buccaneers. Aruba remained under Spain's control until 1636 when it was taken over by the Dutch. In 1643, a Dutch governor was appointed to control Aruba and the other Caribbean islands under Dutch control. On January 1st, 1986, Aruba gained autonomy and now governs itself while remaining a part of the Netherlands.     The official language of Aruba is Dutch with other main languages being English, Spanish, and Papiamento, a combination of Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese, English, and Indian language.
